My approach to marketing and communicationsI treat writing for a specific audience the same way I approach an assignment that will be read by the general public in a newspaper or online. Though it may not have a byline on it, writing marketing, B2B or B2C content—such as emails, press releases, video scripts, blog posts, white papers and case studies—must have the same qualities that feature and deadline stories do. The main key in marketing and corporate communications is voice, making sure my personal style doesn't creep in and instead keeping it consistent to the mood and tone the entire company or organization is using. Detailed research is also vital, to ensure the message a business is conveying the proper information to its customers.
