My approach to deadline writing

Writing on deadline can be stressful and nerve-wracking, but can also lead to terrific work. Experience and repetition help, but I believe the key to success in quickly turning around a strong story starts with preparation before writing begins. Extensive familiarity of a subject allows me to know what I'm looking for, can help them determine what questions to ask sources and helps produce a story that reads like it was written with ample time and unlimited resources, even if it is frantically pounded out just minutes before it is needed to be submitted.
